Kneehigh Asylum: FUP

Kneehigh presents FUP
Asylum, The Lost Gardens of Heligan

Kneehigh and O-region
Based on the novel by Jim Dodge
Adapted & directed by Simon Harvey

"With live music, big earthy performances and heart-melting puppetry, this comedy has a joyous, celebratory fizz and a piercing melancholy"★★★★ The Times

The Santee family are unconventional, to say the least. One hundred year old Grandaddy Jake and his enormous grandson Tiny live life on the fringes, drinking whiskey, building fences, boasting of immortality. But then, Fup arrives – an ass-kicking, web-footed, feathery sonofagun. See, Fup is a duck. A very big duck. A very big duck indeed... And she is going to change their world forever.

FUP is a big-hearted, uproarious modern fable about family, love and nature set in a weird and wild Cornwall not so different from this one. Featuring live, foot-stomping music, quacking puppetry and Kneehigh’s infamous eccentricity and charm, FUP is a story like no other. FUP was a huge hit at Kneehigh’s 2016 Asylum and we’re delighted to bring it back to Cornwall ahead of a UK tour this autumn.

Suitable for adults, teenagers and adventurous children over the age of 10.

Tickets are now on sale to Kneehigh Friends. Early Bird tickets will be available to all from 15 March and full price tickets on sale from 12 April.

The Asylum
Kneehigh’s Asylum is back in a new site at The Lost Gardens of Heligan and plans are afoot to create the ultimate night out. This year it’s all about breaking the rules with style, with pop-up shows, surprise acts and spontaneous events invigorating a season of world-class theatre and epic live music.

The Asylum will run from 2 August until 22 September. Visit kneehigh.co.uk for further announcements or follow WeAreKneehigh on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Access
We try to make access to the Asylum as easy as possible for everyone, but there is no getting away from it, the Asylum is a large tent in the middle of a field. If it has been particularly rainy the site can get very wet so we advise wearing sensible shoes, as well as warm layers to evening performances as it can get a bit chilly.

All tickets for this year's Asylum are unreserved. For evening performances, access to the site will be available from 6pm, and from 2.30pm for matinees.

When you arrive on site please let our Asylum volunteers know if you require a disabled parking space.

Wheelchair users are of course welcome to the Asylum, but please ensure you book your tickets over the telephone and inform the Hall for Cornwall that you require a wheelchair space.

Discounts available for School Groups - Please contact the Box Office on 01872 262466

When you go through to the Shopping Basket, a £1.50 Handling Fee will be added to each transaction.  Tickets are sold on a non-refundable basis unless membership is held (Membership T&C's apply).
