Physical Postcards project
Physical Postcards was just one of the many creative comissions that we developed in order to explore different ways of engaging with heritage. This project invited members of the public to write a postcard based on their visit to Truro. Postcards were then read out publicly, whilst three dancers (Lois Taylor, Sarah Fairhall and Gemma Kempthorne) performed an improvised piece in response as a dance-message.
The activity was taken to three sites over two days, including an interactive dance event outside Hall For Cornwall on Lemon Quay; at the Royal Cornwall Museum and at Waterstones bookshop in Truro. Each site provided an opportunity to engage with a different audience who may not usually attend Hall For Cornwall, whilst also bringing to life stories and memories.
· Over 100 members of the public participated in writing postcards
· Over 200 people were the audience, enjoying watching and observing
· Many more Truro visitors interacted for a short moment in passing
