St. Endellion Festival presents VERDI Requiem in Truro cathedral
St Endellion Festival Chorus and Orchestra
Conductor Ryan Wigglesworth
Sophie Bevan (soprano)
Madeleine Shaw (mezzo)
David Butt-Philip (tenor)
Matthew Brook (bass-baritone)
St Endellion Summer Music Festival makes it annual appearance in Truro Cathedral, with Verdi's monumental Requiem. A masterpiece conceived on a grand scale, it is as dramatic and powerful as any of his operas. Although early critics were disturbed by the overtly theatrical nature of the music, many of the most dramatic moments - such as the whirling tumult of the Dies irae or the majestic trumpet summons in the Tuba mirum - also provide its most moving and profound passages. It will resonate magnificently in the grand proportions of Truro Cathedral.
Rising star Ryan Wigglesworth conducts the St Endellion Festival Orchestra and Chorus, with an array of international soloists - Sophie Bevan, Madeleine Shaw, David Butt-Philip, and Matthew Brook.
