Part of our journey in exploring our heritage at Hall for Cornwall now involves looking forward, to the future of the theatre as it opens post-transformation. With this in mind, the art of collecting from around us is a story that we are keen to play a part in, ensuring that our history has a context in the future of the theatre.

Keeping a creative view on how we can document our past heritage and future stories is what led us to Falmouth University's BA (Hons) Illustration course. With students keen to gain experience in Reportage, a style of quick, sketch-like observational drawing used most famously in court drawings, there was a natural opportunity to capture impressions during the theatre's opening season.

Students were invited to capture the show and show build up during three different performance types during the run of Fisherman's Friends and Cinderella, Cornwall Playhouse co-productions and productions respectively. Relaxed performances, audio transcribed performances, matinees and pre-show drinks and theatre buzz are all captured beautifully. Many thanks to students whose work is represented here and becomes part of our digital heritage collection; Eleanor Holmes, Sinead Hayward, Alicia Perkins and Emily Howard.
