Lockdown Cornwall - Circle of Life

Following the success of the first Lockdown Cornwall collaboration featuring an abundance of local talent performing "One Day More" from Les Miserables, the team are back for round 2. Not to shy away from a challenge, this time they have gone for the Lion King classic "Circle of Life".

Once again all recorded from homes around Cornwall, this video features singers and musicians from a variety of local bands, choirs and amateur dramatics societies, all coming together to keep music & performance alive whilst theatres remain closed.

With viewing figures for "One Day More" now standing at 44,000 on Youtube and rumours of another video on the horizon, Lockdown Cornwall may be becoming Cornwall's new supergroup! We will be watching out for the live concert...

The Dis-Dance Ball

With Lockdown rules easing, it's time to have a dance! Dance Centred would like to invite you to The Dis Dance Ball performance at Sterts Theatre and Arts Centre on Saturday 15th August 2020 at 7.30pm - Tickets £8.

A playful, lively evening of contemporary dance with only one rule on the dance floor, close but not too close! Full social distancing in place. Book tickets direct from Sterts Theatre.

Disney Cruise Line's "Tangled: The Musical"

One for the kids!!... Disney Cruises has released a full stage musical version of Tangled on its YouTube page.

The stage show features the original cast of the cruise piece, and includes three new songs not featured in the 2010 film – "When She Returns", "Flower of Gold", and "Wanted Man" – penned by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater. Tangled follows the story of Rapunzel and is led by Elisha Ainsley in the main role.

BBC Proms - The John Wilson Orchestra does Broadway

The BBC has released the recording of its 2012 Prom featuring a series of Broadway hits.

Led by the John Wilson Orchestra, the performance features tunes by George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Leonard Bernstein, with soloists including Seth MacFarlane, Anna-Jane Casey, Sierra Boggess, Julian Ovenden and Rodney-Earl appearing at the central London venue for the production.

The Prom was presented on BBC Four recently and will be available for a month on the UK streaming platform. The special encore screening also features an interview between Katie Derham and soprano Elizabeth Llewellyn.

"Make Them Hear You" from Ragtime for #BLM

150 UK and US musical performers and a 38-piece orchestra came together to perform this rousing version of "Make Them Hear You" from Ragtime in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

The musical Ragtime features the story of African-American Coalhouse Walker Jr, who is shot and killed by police unjustly. It is based on the 1975 novel of the same name by E L Doctorow.

The video is raising funds for the StopWatch campaign, which combats the racist and disproportionate use of stop and search since 2010.

This Immersive Audio Experience allows you and a companion to be part of a 20 minute 'show' in your own home. It has been highly reviewed by The Stage, TimeOut and The Guardian.

Distilling their three container shows into a digital audio series, Darkfield Radio begins its hallucinatory transmissions with DOUBLE which requests listeners to surrender themselves for twenty minutes, as their imaginations envelop them as the 360° binaural experience preys on the immersive capabilities of their doubts, minds and imaginations.

Tickets: £5 per person, currently booking until 15th August.

UK Creatives - Netflix wants you!

Hands up who has been binging Netflix during lockdown? Yes, us too. Well now you can put all that well spent viewing time to good use, by producing your own video essay for Netflix for use on their social media channels.

Netflix want to showcase a wider range of perspectives on Netflix UK social media channels. To that end, they are inviting people to pitch ideas for video essays on Netflix titles. Especially encouraging Black creatives and those from under-represented groups, as well as those who live outside London, to submit ideas. The chosen pieces will receive £800 per essay upon publication. Follow the title link for more details on how to submit your entry plus some examples of the type of content they are looking for.

HFC Youth: Life in Lockdown

Each week for the past 10 weeks we have been publishing mini blogs from our HFC Youth members to add to this collection. They have told us in their own words how lockdown has been for them, the challenges they have faced and the new experiences they have had.

We hope to be back in classes with them all again soon, but for now we have loved having a small window into their worlds without us! Have a read...
