Dance & Choreography
Emily is a dancer and choreographer who works across art forms and communities in dance and theatre and live and digital formats. Originally from the Midlands, Emily trained in Contemporary Dance at Bretton Hall College of Arts in Yorkshire and is now based in Cornwall. She has worked extensively as a dancer in touring and site-based productions with companies including Kneehigh Theatre, WildWorks, Cscape Dance, and Simon Birch Dance, & performed in works by Rosemary Lee, Emma Rice, Yael Flexer & Agnieszka Blonska.
Emily is currently developing new live performance work In My Head (2019/21), an extraordinary experience of ordinary, everyday sound and hearing loss supported by Arts Council England and Audio Moves a series of analogue & digital projects amongst other projects.
Her dance for camera work with writer and director Brett Harvey (Kneehigh, o-region, Lucasfilm) has been screened worldwide including Budapest and Buenos Aires. Her photography is an on-going collection for work and play, capturing people, place and nature.
Emily curates and produces a professional development programme for dancers, Master Workshop Programme #12 supported by Hall for Cornwall, is a Lecturer of Dance at Falmouth University, and Co-founder and Co-director of Freefall Dance (2010-2016). Emily is a recipient of the Artists International Development Fund (Arts Council England and British Council), a Developing Your Creative Practice grant (Arts Council England) and a member of an international networking group through the Arts Access Festival Forum (Goethe Institut and British Council).
