“The Cream of Cornish Acting Talent”

Dean Nolan is a name in the film industry and can swim among the “Big Fish” however, he remains loyal to his Cornish routes and the creative hub that is Hall For Cornwall. Nolan was born in Truro and although he has toured all across the West End he performs innovative productions that mean something to him and to his Cornish community. An example of this was seen in the recent 2009 production of ‘Brief Encounter’ originally written by Noel Coward.

The theatre production of ‘Brief Encounter’ although the performance still features the doomed lovers Fred and Laura and their conservative partners, there is a plethora of new features and new innovative developments. These innovative qualities are the work of a combination of the Arts Council England funded Kneehigh Theatre, as well as the Heritage Lottery funded Hall For Cornwall. As a way of illustrating this point on the complex world of Kneehigh productions in the Hall for Cornwall setting, Nolan spoke to Cornwall Live and stated “it’s one of the few Kneehigh shows I didn’t see originally and has toured the world and played on Broadway successfully since then, so to be in the new production is amazing. It’s like no other piece of theatre.”
