Frequently asked questions
Q: Why should I name seat?
A: Cornwall deserves a cultural space where everyone feels the transformative power of the arts, on stage and off. A space where everyone is welcome; where 300,000 people a year can come and see a show with us, where 50,000 young people can grow in confidence and where Cornwall’s creative community can flourish. We need your help to make that happen. We’ve worked with passion, grit and gusto to raise £20 million towards our transformation and have been delighted that so many people have been inspired by and supported our vision. Now we need your help to raise the final amount and lift the curtain to fully realise the theatre that Cornwall deserves. You will be making your mark on the future of ground-breaking theatre and performance in Cornwall.
Q: What will I get in return?
A: Your support will be marked by:
• A dedicated seat plaque, with your chosen name or quote engraved.
• A commemorative certificate.
• An invitation to a ‘meet your seat ceremony’ where you can celebrate your contribution and connect with other supporters who have helped open the doors to a brand new state-of-the-art auditorium.
Q: How long will the plaque be in place for?
A: Ten years.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: We are asking for contributions of £100, £250, £500, £1,500 or £2,500.
Q: Can I name more than one seat?
A: Of course, you can name individually, a pair or even an entire row.
Q: Can I name a seat on behalf of someone else?
A: Yes indeed. Naming a seat is a perfect gift for celebrating a memory, birthday, anniversary, or for someone special.
Q: What will my contribution be used towards?
A: Every seat named will support our major transformation which will enable the vital youth, schools and local talent programmes we run throughout Cornwall. Every single name on every single seat counts – towards a future where the performance space Cornwall deserves comes to life and is open to us all.
Q: Can I claim gift aid?
A: At the moment we have been advised we can't claim Gift Aid, but if this changes, we will be in touch and inform you of this change.
Q: Can I self-select a seat to name?
A: Yes, you can select a seat from our website.
Q: The seat I want to name is not available – what are my options?
A: If you can’t see what you want online, please do call one of the development team on 01872 262 466 and they will happily talk through your requirements and find you some options.
Q: Will I be able to sit in my seat when I visit the theatre?
A: We will do our utmost to accommodate your wishes should you wish to sit in the seat you have named. Members and patrons will have priority booking access to shows, so if you want to ensure you can sit in your named seat, do come and join us as a supporter and we’ll make best endeavours to make your seat requests possible whenever we can.
Q: What will the plaque be made from and where will they be located?
A: We are still determining both of these details as we construct our brand new auditorium. Rest assured, the finish and placements will be of a quality that befits an architecturally designed brand new state of the art new auditorium.
