Education

We’re here to help.

We want to support every young person to reach their potential allowing them to beat their drum louder and extend their reach further than ever before.

Performance Programme

Our performance programme will always offer productions for schools and young people, with workshops linked to productions or bespoke sessions available for schools and groups to book. Tours give a glimpse of what it means to be part of a production or encourage schools to find out more about the centuries of showmanship, joy and drama that have played out in our Hall. All of our educational work is developed with teachers, meeting curriculum objectives and delivered by professionals in their field.

Hall for Cornwall Schools Programme

Our schools programme invites open applications and selects 12 schools across Cornwall for a two year in-depth partnership. We’ll focus on bespoke collaborations involving the whole school, using drama, dance, music, reading, writing and performance for young people as well as teachers, support staff and families to get involved in. With a wide curriculum focus, we tailor each programme to the needs of the school, supporting literacy and social development.

As part of the programme, Hall for Cornwall school partners benefit from a deeper understanding of the operational workings of a professional theatre through exclusive Educational Open Days, looking at box office to marketing, fundraising to backstage technicalities and everything in between.

Working with the best creative educationalists and professionally practising artists, the Hall for Cornwall schools programme offers an enriched experience, delivered with care.

From April this year, we will be recruiting another 12 schools to join us for a 2 year partnership. Please contact the Get Creative team to find out more.

Royal Shakespeare Company Associate Schools Programme

Our associates programme with the Royal Shakespeare Company is targeted towards schools who want to develop and improve access to Shakespeare and deliver the best in classroom teaching through active drama techniques.

For students, the programme involves dynamic ways to learn about Shakespeare, artist-led projects, and performance opportunities on our stage, in our local community and at the RSC in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Every year, we invite 12 schools to apply for a place on this 24 month programme which include performance opportunities, RSC practitioner workshops, director and choreographer support and a support network of teachers who exchange ideas and share best practice throughout the programme. This is led and coordinated with our Lead Associate School, Treviglas Academy, who have led the programme for the past 5 years.

Please contact the Get Creative team to find out more.

Work Experience

For secondary school pupils, our work experience programme offers valuable opportunities for hands-on industry experience, training courses introduce young people to stage skills including rigging, lighting and sound design, and our annual dance and drama conferences are an inspired gathering of companies and teachers to create effective creative curriculum learning and professionally-supported performances.
