Getting Creative
In Cornwall’s Playgrounds

News Details

In June 2025, school playgrounds across Cornwall were transformed with professional dance performances and workshops thanks to Hall for Cornwall and The Place.

HfC’s Get Creative programme is here to help everyone in Cornwall discover their creative spark, access the arts and find their tribe. Get Creative works with our funders and donors alongside partners DHL, Delivering Tomorrow’s Performances. We bring inspiring creative opportunities to young people across the Duchy, shaping young lives and expanding horizons.

Throughout June, we partnered with leading London dance institution, The Place, to parachute professional dance performances into school playgrounds across Cornwall. The Playground Tour is designed to reach those young people who may not ordinarily access the arts and give them an engaging early experience of top-class performance.

The Place, one of Europe’s most exciting dance spaces and home to London Contemporary Dance School, champions pioneering dance work - pushing creative boundaries with experimental pieces.

A team of 6 dancers, along with our HfC Youth Dance leader, Erica Stretch, and members of our Get Creative team joined forces to deliver this ambitious project.

Together we travelled across Cornwall, visiting St Teath Primary School, Tywardreath Primary School, Probus Primary School, Delabole Primary School and Sandy Hill Academy. We brought them juggling ballerinas en pointe, pulsing hip hop, and workshops which unleashed connection and creativity.

This work matters. We’re firing up the next generation of theatregoers and makers and showing young people in our region what’s possible. You can support us by becoming a member, joining us on our mission to share creativity with every young person in Cornwall.
