Aladdin Cast Announced!

Roll out the magic carpet, it’s time to meet the actors who’ll be joining Edward Rowe in this year’s Cornwall Playhouse Production, Aladdin, a pantomime adventure presented in association with Falmouth University, flying together with Cornwall Airport Newquay.

As you’d expect from a Christmas show at Hall for Cornwall, this year’s company includes top notch West End and international talent alongside Cornwall’s finest, as we bring this festive family tale to life.

Joining Kernow King...

We recently announced that Kernow King, Edward Rowe (who this year co-writes the show with Richard Healey), is pulling on his bloomers again, this time in the role of Widow Twerkey. He’ll be joined by Sara Markland as this year’s panto baddie Aberzennor (see what we did there?). Sara last appeared on the Cornwall Playhouse stage as feisty fairy, Tinkerbell, in Cornwall Playhouse Productions Peter Pan, and brings with her an impressive CV with television appearances on Casualty, Kingdom and Hotel Babylon alongside a wealth of stage credits.

Having had us in stitches as Harri Co’vert in last year’s Jack and the Beanstalk, Gareth Cooper (One Man, Two Guvnors, Julius Caesar) is back as Aladdin’s hapless brother Willy Washaway. Cornwall through-and-through, Gareth is an actor, musician, writer, comedian and voiceover artist, who has performed in theatre, film, TV, radio, commercials, animations, sketches and web-series.

Fresh, new talent

Fresh faces set to win your hearts are Alexander Jude (Aladdin) who’ll be jumping on the magic carpet as eponymous hero Aladdin, Jasmine Cole (Fame, Heathers) – very aptly cast as our Jasmine, and Mali Wen Davies (Supersonic Man) bringing the magic and mirth as Spirit of the Ring.

Keeping the energy high and bringing the festive joy, our talented ensemble are Georgina Skitt, Harriet Sanderson, Joe Birch-Scanlan, Maya Khatri Chhetri, Reece Bailey-Davies, and Trevor Lin.

A creative dream team

As previously announced, the show will this year be directed by Nick Evans who’s a maestro of the musical theatre world, serving as Associate Director on major productions including Billy Elliot the Musical in London. Co-writer Richard Healey returns as Musical Director and movement artist Jevan Howard-Jones leads on choreography, bringing with him a list of credits that include the recent film adaptation of Wicked.
